In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and security of our facility in Lowell, MA working within the Safety, Security, and Facilities department. You’ll report directly to the Deputy Director of Safety & Security.
Position Summary:
This position serves as the Safety, Security and Facility lead at the OASIS office in Lowell, Massachusetts as part of ThayerMahan’s overall Safety & Security Program. The broad responsibilities include assuring adherence to the Department of Defense’s National Industrial Security Program (NISP), Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) regulations and International Standard Organization (ISO) safety standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Security – Adherence to the National Industrial Security Program including the safeguarding, transmission and marking of classified material, the processing and maintaining of personnel security clearances, processing and confirming classified visits, preparing travel briefs, conducting and tracking security trainings, disseminating contract security requirements, maintaining the DCSA facility security clearance and the maintaining layered physical security. Represent the company at federal audits and liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
This position is expected to access and maintain government security systems of records such as NISS, DISS and NBIS.
Safety – Adherence to all applicable safety policies, standards, codes, laws and regulations. Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) of facilities, equipment and tasks. Mitigate risk using hierarchy of controls, conduct internal safety audits and represent the company at federal audits. Conduct root cause analysis of accidents and near misses. Inspect and document compliance of safety equipment.
Facilities – Ensure facilities in Lowell are maintained in an efficient and safe manner. Assist contract officer with inventory control. Perform and record simple preventive maintenance tasks.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of an AS Degree in Safety, Security, or related field.
- Minimum 2 Year experience in safety, security/law enforcement or military security roles may be substituted for a degree.
- Must be a naturalized US citizen who can obtain and maintain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Completion of DCSA Facility Security Officer Training within 6 months of appointment.
- Completion of OSHA 10 Safety Training within 6 months of appointment
- Ability to work independently and on assignments as part of a team. Detail oriented report writing and the ability to understand federal regulations and apply them to your work is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working under the National Industrial Security Program in a Facility Security Officer Position, Assistant Facility Security Officer, or Program Security Officer is preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to complete light maintenance tasks (climb a ladder, lift 50 pounds), must be able to occasionally drive to Groton CT.
Travel Requirements:
Travel to home office in Groton, CT occasionally. (less than 2%)
