Role Overview: Senior Accountant:
As a Senior Accountant at ThayerMahan, reporting to our Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and building our finance team. Your expertise will contribute to the financial health of our organization as we continue to expand and innovate. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
- Reviews A/P transactions for accurate recording
- Prepares recurring and adjusting journal entries for managerial approval
- Responsible for accurate billing of commercial and government customers
- Assists with running payroll
- Supports external financial statement audit inquiries
- Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
- Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
- Oversee financial reporting and analysis.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making.
- Contribute to the implementation of financial systems and processes.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience with:
- Financial close activities
- Generating financial statements;
- Experience supporting GAAP financial statement audits
- Excel/Word proficiency
Preferred
- CPA
- U.S. Government Contract (FAR/DFARS) experience including:
- Experience with project cost accounting
- Familiar with DCAA audit expectations and support
- Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
- Familiarity with Incurred Cost Submissions (ICE Model)
- Familiarity with Unanet accounting software
